Nadia’s Story

Nadia was born in Monterrey, Mexico a city surrounded by mountains in the north of the country. Nadia grew up next to her family, who are the most important to her. Her mom Claudia is a doctor who has dedicated her career to helping women in need, her dad Victorio is an entrepreneur who enjoys running and her sister Sol is an artist who loves to hike.

Nadia graduated as an attorney in Mexico in 2011, a couple of years later she moved to New York City to pursue her dreams of a career in social justice. She graduated from Columbia Law School in 2015 and eventually moved to Los Angeles to help female survivors of human trafficking. Her passion for human rights took her to work for the Thomson Reuters Foundation, which was the job that put her in the right spot to be able to meet Eric.

Nadia enjoys running, hiking, and traveling. She has run six marathons and hiked Machu Pichu and Mt. Fuji. She has traveled to 39 countries (40 this year with Eric!). She loves to explore new restaurants and to drink wine.

Eric’s Story

Eric was born in Annapolis, Maryland, and grew up around the DMV (the District of Colombia, Maryland, and Virginia). In 2009 Eric graduated from Herndon High School in Virginia and then attended the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Georgia. After graduation, Eric headed to Los Angeles to pursue a career in filmmaking.

After initially filming a variety of projects for Steve Aoki’s record label project, Eric began working as a 1st Assistant Camera on feature films and commercials with top talent. After a chance meeting in 2016 Eric was asked to serve as Director of Photography on an episode of the award winning series Artbound on KCET (SoCal PBS). This project would ultimately lay the first brick in the path to the moment that Eric and Nadia met.

More recently, Eric founded and runs his production company, Cabin 19 Films, and now films a wide variety of projects. When not working Eric enjoys spending time at June Lake and exploring the Eastern Sierra.

Our Relationship

Nadia and Eric met on April 21st, 2018, at a screening of a documentary about the impact of climate change on immigration (topics Eric and Nadia are passionate about). Nadia was working for the Thomson Reuters Foundation at the time which co-produced a documentary with KCET that Eric was hired to film. Eric introduced himself during the mixer that followed the screening, and the rest is history.

Since that meeting Nadia and Eric have traveled all over the US together, as well as around Mexico, and farther-flung destinations like South America and Europe. They live on the west side of Los Angeles and enjoy hiking together, traveling, wine tasting, and more.

They are excited about this new chapter in their relationship and grateful to share this moment with close friends and family.
